This home was designed by architect Robert O’ Derrick in 1926. Original door and window hardware as well as light fixtures and plumbing were selected in French supply houses, a large portion of which remain in the house today. The 6,500-square-foot home was lovingly restored over a period of six years, from outdated sewer lines to a new roof before the interiors were planned and furnished. The clients are collectors of art, and every room displays multiple pieces collected over time including several that were painted by the client’s artist father. Most often the color palette was determined by the artwork assigned to that space. A goal of this project was to take this very serious house with a pedigree and make it vibrant and livable. A strong use of color with a mix of more casual furnishings accomplished that goal. Select any image to view larger.
